The timing of a healing is often as strategic to God’s plan as the healing itself. As I see it, our job is to pray and God’s job is to heal. The spiritual gifts of healing and miracles are not a credit card God gives us on one occasion and then says go out and use it however you want. It is a resident power within us because HE is resident within us. The gifts are to be used in reliance upon the leading and promptings of the Holy Spirit – they are to operate
RELATIONALLY. They are to operate out of a moment by moment intimacy with the indwelling Holy Spirit.  Jesus only did WHAT HE SAW THE FATHER DOING. He lived a life of perfect response – he did not initiate independent action. A physical healing done outside of God’s timing may result in a healing which does not accomplish God’s SPIRITUAL goals for the sick person. God’s goals for the use of every gift always have a spiritual purpose in mind for the person being blessed. A premature physical healing may result in a healthy person but a healing in God’s timing may result in an eternal salvation AND a physical healing. God’s timing always has in mind the very best for the person, not just the physical healing. Lazarus is a good example. Jesus waited until it was clear to everyone that Lazarus was dead [well and truly, in the tomb, stinking dead]. He told the disciples that he was delaying His intervention in Lazarus’ sickness for their benefit [that they might believe]. Also, this miracle lead to belief in many who witnessed the miracle. It was a miracle rather than just a physical healing – far more dramatic and persuasive than just a physical healing. All this to say that our use of spiritual gifts is never to be independent of God’s daily, moment by moment, guidance. If He wants someone to go to a hospital and empty it, HE will guide them to do that. To attempt to do this without His leading is nothing more than presumption.
